Synopsis:

The story is set in a massively popular VRMMORPG called Satisfy. Grid, a newbie player, completes his 3 month long quest and successfully obtains a legendary blacksmith class called [Pagma’s descendant]. This is the start of his journey to becoming the most overgeared user in the game.

Personal Review:

This novel is very similar to the Legendary Moonlight Sculptor, as both MCs are production classes. What sets this novel apart, however, is the character development of the MC. At the start of the novel, the MC is greedy, selfish, and shortsighted; but his personality greatly matures as he meets new friends and undergoes various ordeals throughout his journey in the game. The novel is a decent read and a fun way to kill time, but the story should probably not be overanalyzed as there are numerous plot holes to be found.

Synopsis:

The novel follows Theodore Miller, a student in a prestigious magic academy who is on the verge of being expelled. Despite having a great understanding of magic theory, the MC lacks the talent for casting spells, which is the main criteria for deciding whether mages can graduate or not. At the end of his rope, Theodore visits the magic library and happens upon a grimoire that attaches itself to him. This changes his destiny forever and embarks him upon the path of a mage.

Personal Review:

The main selling point of this novel for me is the worldbuilding as well as the mythologies that are present in the story. There is a mix of eastern and western fantasy mixed into the lore which creates an interesting situation where martial arts and magic coexist. The plot also progresses in unexpected directions, which I like. While the plot at the beginning is fairly linear, it begins to diverge and go down interesting paths later on.

Synopsis:

Humanity has been gradually transported to the Abyss by a bored god to compete against other races and monsters. And in a fantasy world filled with dragons and other strange creatures, it is not surprising that humanity finds itself at an incredible innate disadvatange. At the cusp of total annihilation, the few remaining humans decide to go all in and send one of their own back in time to better prepare for the apocalypse. This is where our MC Hansoo comes in, as he is unanimously voted to be the one sent back.

Personal Review:

The time travel theme is not something new and is rather over used. But this story does do a decent job of using this type of narrative. Even though the MC has travelled back to the past, he does not retain any of his previous skills, only his memories. This ensures that he is not immediately overpowered, and he is forced to use his wits and smarts in order to ensure his survival. There are admittedly a lot of plot holes in the story; however, the main feature of this novel for me is the constant sense of suspense it leaves the reader in. The MC constantly finds himself in situations where he either kills or he will be killed.

Synopsis:

A world where all of the greatest in all dimensions have gathered.

Three out of five were the strongest in their world, and one of them was considered the strongest in history.

A crazy world where a wandering goblin would be above level 90.

Asgard, otherwise known as “Heaven above the heavens.”

In a world where all of the monsters of the worlds meet, Vulcan’s new adventure begins.

Personal Review:

Max Level Newbie delves into the idea of a new game plus. After attaining the max level in his world, Vulcan is sent to Asgard, a fantasy world filled with a mix of divine warriors, martial artists, dragons, and various other monsters. Originally expecting himself to still be the top dog in this new world, he is quickly disabused of this notion as even the wandering goblins in the world prove to be a challenge for him. Nevertheless, he must fight his way through Asgard if he wants to have even a slim chance of returning to his previous world.

Synopsis:

Waking up, Kim Hajin finds himself in a familiar world but an unfamiliar body.

A world he created himself and a story he wrote, yet never finished.

He had become his novel’s extra, a filler character with no importance to the story.

The only clue to escaping is to stay close to the main storyline.

However, he soon finds out the world isn’t exactly identical to his creation.

Personal Review:

The premise of the story is quite interesting, as the author (Kim Hajin) is transmigrated as a mob character in his own novel. An important aspect of this novel is the power balance, because the MC is not overpowered compared to the rest of the characters, and he is actually considerably weaker. He has to make use of his knowledge of the plot in order to make up for his weakness. The MC’s method to grow stronger is also quite unique, as he must acquire “specialty points” in order to boost his stats. These are acquired by attracting the attention of the characters in the novel. This forces him to have to stand out and creates hilarious misunderstandings throughout the story as the characters misinterpret the reasons behind his actions.

Another key feature of this novel are the characters themselves, the main cast truly feels fleshed out as they each have their own goals that they are working towards as well as respective fears and inhibitions that shackle them. This makes the characters feel alive, because they are not forcibly stuck inside a character template. And it also makes for an interesting read, to see how these characters grow throughout the story. Overall, I would say that this novel is a definite must-read.

Synopsis:

The novel centers on Lee Ho Jae, a former professional gamer who suddenly receives a strange holographic message asking him if he wishes to join “The Tutorial”. In a fit of drunken stupor, he agrees and decides to pick the Hell difficulty, thus marking the beginning of his sorrows.

Personal review:

The plot is fairly complicated to follow, as the story does not progress linearly, and is instead told through a sporadic mix of future and past events. This opens up an element of suspense and mystery to the story, as the readers are told parts of what happens in the future but are left unaware to the exact causes behind it and have to guess for themselves using the various tidbits that the author drops throughout the story. For me, aside from the mystery, the main highlight of this story is the character progression. The MC starts off as a drunken mess and someone whose life seems empty and meaningless. This changes very rapidly once he gets exposed to the horrors of the tutorial world, and we see him rapidly descend into spiralling madness as he faces the reality of the situation he is in — one in which he could face death at any given time. This cements an obsession inside of him to grow stronger, and ultimately, to be able to escape the tutorial.
