Personal Review:
This is one of the few novels I’ve read that actually has a ruthless, and outright villainous MC. He is deeply obsessed with immortality and will stop at nothing in order to achieve his goal, even if it means dooming everyone else. The main highlight of this novel for me is the lack of plot armor and OP powerups that most MCs have. Leylin can only rely on his wits and schemes in order to get ahead in this world, because he is frankly not the most talented nor the most well off in the new world. That is why it is always exciting to see how the MC can overcome his problems, as the novel leaves hints behind what he is plotting but only reveals everything at the end of the arc. This builds up a sense of mystery and suspense for the readers as they try to guess how the MC will weasel his way out of the predicament he finds himself in. The worldbuilding and lore in this story is also very detailed and I feel there are no major plot holes in the story.
